I photographed Jamie and Brian’s Dana Point wedding a few months ago at Cannons Restaurant. Jamie is a fellow lover of photography, so she dragged out her wedding gown (and some killer boots) for just one more photo op. This was one of the most fun portrait sessions I’ve ever photographed. It’s refreshing to be free from the time constraints of the wedding day, and to not care if your gown gets dirty or wet. I know this might crush some peoples’ dreams right now, but trust me- your daughter will NEVER want to wear your gown on her wedding day! I wouldn’t be caught dead in my mom’s long sleeved, 70’s style, lace wedding gown (not to mention the huge, floppy, matching hat). I’ve been to almost 700 weddings and seen only 1 bride in her mom’s gown. So don’t be scared ladies, unpack your gown from that big box in the garage and call me to schedule your trash the dress portrait session today!

WOW!! I never heard of “trash the dress” photos, but I can see why they should be a must for every bride. I love the relax look of the photos. My favorite is the second picture wear Jamie is showing off her “killer” boots.

Great pictures – when I found out she was going to do this I was stunned….never heard of this before. However, after having my own dress packed and reserved by the cleaners and then moving it around wherever I wound up, I finally donated it!!!! So kudos to Jamie and Brian for doing what they wanted and Carly is so correct — nobody wants to wear the old dress on their day!!!! I’m so happy for them!

Jamie, When you told me about “trash the dress”, I was shocked. I never heard of such a thing. I thought, OH NO!! Not that gorgeous dress… But then I thought about my beautiful dress from 1953, which cost $55.00, rotting in my closet… I guess I should have a “throw the dress in the trash can” day. All the pictures were great, but I liked the last one best.

Love these pictures jamie! Your dress is so pretty, the concept of “trash the dress” seemed a little wrong but now that I see the awesome pictures that come from it I love it. I love the one of you sitting in the dirt with the boots! :)
